Hi. My name is Jonathan Medina, and I’m the Preschool Director. I am native to the Valley, married to a wonderful wife, and we have four amazing adopted and birth children. I have been with West Valley Christian School for over ten years. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education from ASU and am working towards my Masters and Doctorate in Christian Education and Theology. As the preschool director, it is my goal and privilege to maintain a safe, Christ-centered preschool with a godly, well-trained staff, implementing solid academic and biblical instruction that is developmentally and age specific.
Preschool Assistant Director
My name is Gloria Bustos, and I was born and raised in Southern California. I earned my degree in Human Development from the University of California, San Diego. I have ten years of experience working in Early Childhood Education. I started working in Early Childhood Education because I love helping children discover who they are in Christ as well as helping families to strengthen their child’s foundation for lifelong learning.
My name is Caitlin Miller. God has given me a love for teaching and helping children. I have been serving kids in this capacity since I was old enough to volunteer at my church’s children’s ministry. I also served as a preschool teacher for over 3 years in California before moving to Arizona in 2018. Before arriving here, I earned two associates degrees and completed additional training in child development. I’m thrilled to be a part of West Valley Christian Preschool and look forward to using the gifts God has given me to help your child grow and develop in these critical years.
My name is Emily Sanchez, but my students call me Ms. Emily. I enjoy helping children make discoveries about themselves and the world around them. But most importantly, my passion and my prayer are to help your child build a love and trust in Jesus as deep as my own. I joined the staff of West Valley Christian Preschool in 2018 and I’m looking forward to taking part in your child’s educational and Christian journey.
Hello, my name is Rebecca Lawson, and this is my second year at West Valley Christian Preschool. I have always had a love for children and helping guide them as they grow. I feel like God has led me to this school to inspire and love every child that comes through our doors. My favorite aspect of being a teacher at WVC Preschool is the liberty to teach Christian values to our students. It is never too early to learn about Jesus and his love for us. My goal is to let God work through me daily as I work diligently to instill these things into your child.
My name is Mrs. Sarah DeCastro, but my preschool friends call me Ms. Sarah. I was born and raised in Southern California. I earned my degree in Early Childhood Education from College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA. I continued my education at The Master’s University and California State University of Bakersfield. I enjoy developing children’s love of inquiry through Science. As a teacher, I want to guide your child toward to becoming lifelong learners and prepare the foundation they need to make an impact for Christ. I feel so blessed to be teaching at WVC Preschool with an amazing team that shares my commitment to Jesus and His teachings!
My name is Amanda Van Hofwegen, I have been at WVC Preschool for three years. During the past two years, I’ve served as a preschool teacher. In my classroom, we build our foundation for learning on a Christ-centered attitude, play-based curriculum, and practicing proper manners while treating others with love and respect. I am committed to developing strong relationships and excellent communication with my students and their families. Also, I am convinced that early Christian education is an essential part of transforming your child into a thriving student and successful adult. It’s so encouraging to have the freedom to talk about Jesus and His love for us as we launch them into this exciting journey!
