Shine His Light Talent Show

I have read the attached rules and reviewed my student's act. I feel it follows the guidelines set forth. Please email lbowls@wvchristianschool.org with any questions.

WVCS “Shine His Light” Talent Show
Audition Rules & Details

1. We reserve the right to change or eliminate acts due to inappropriate language, clothing, contents, or violence. Words, movements in dances, and costumes must be Christ-honoring as determined by the auditioning committee. Poor student behavior during the audition process and/or afterward throughout school days could cause students to be removed from the talent show. As stated in the WVCS Student Handbook on page 43, students are expected to “LEAD the Warrior Way” by Living responsibly, Embracing integrity, Acting responsibly and Displaying kindness.

2. The consent form must be filled out completely. If you have more than one person in your act, each student must turn in a signed consent form.

- Acts may only contain currently enrolled WVCS students with the exception of family members who may be accompanying acts or other pre-approved roles.

3. Each act must be NO LONGER than three (3) minutes in length. There are many resources online to cut/edit songs.

- Singing acts must be “karaoke/instrumental style”. No words, only music (background vocals are ok.)

4. You will be required to digitally submit your permission slip and turn in your music (if applicable) by Friday, April 10th.

5. For any music used in any form, make sure it is rated for the general audience and provide a written copy of the lyrics with your completed permission slip.

6. Students are expected to prepare their act outside of school hours. The ENTIRE act must be prepared and performed at the audition. Nothing may be changed or added after the act has been selected to perform for the show (unless otherwise specified by the auditioning committee). This includes having full costumes ready for the audition process for the committee to see and approve.

7. Performers will be chosen based on appropriateness, preparedness and entertainment value.

8. If your act is chosen (limited number of acts will be chosen), no special requests to have your child perform at a specific time. Please plan to have your student(s) stay for the duration of the talent show out of courtesy to their peers.

9. Visual arts talents
- The cover of the program is part of the talent show. If you have artistic talent you wish to show, you can submit a “Talent Show Cover Contest” form. The theme is Shine His Light. Please make your cover fit with the theme. A few student works will be selected to be added to the program.
- Mrs. Hecht & Mrs. McMains will also have some art displays throughout the venue where students will be showcased with their work from art class. You can also submit separate artwork to your art teacher by Friday, April 24th to be chosen to view at the talent show.

10. Key dates that students MUST be available in order to audition

Audition date options: April 20th or 24th
- A Parent/guardian of at least one student in the act must be present during auditions and supervise students until the audition is over. No students may come from after-care to participate in auditions without an adult overseeing them. Auditions are closed door.
- Walk through rehearsal: May 12th
- Full dress rehearsal: May 13th
- Talent Show Night: May 14th
